Weekend Football

I had loads of work to do for college over the weekend only just
managing to sneak out for a quick jog of around three miles.

We had to travel to Preston for our footie league game against
Penwortham Girls U17. Ten minutes into the game I manage
to lift the ball past the goalie into the net only to have the ref
disallow it. The goalie kicked my foot and I still have the
swelling to prove it. A quick blast of freeze spray and I can
still run on it.

Half time, we are three nil down and my foot is killing me.
Our team suddenly decide to wake up and I manage to
score three goals. Only I get kicked on the other foot, not
my day really. The final whistle goes and we are level at
3-3.

Arrive home and my feet go straight into an ice bath, I
have got no chance of training on Monday. Athletics
will training will just have to wait until Wednesday.

I have Limped to college for the past two days and I
feel a bit sorry for myself. My college sports coach
as just given me some great news that puts a smile on
my face. I have been selected to play in the center of
midfield for the North West Counties side. My dad
says I will have to choose between football and athletics
one day. It's going to be a difficult choice because I love
both sports.

Football trials and extra training

I mentioned in the previous post about the North West County
football trials being called off. Well they were rearranged for the
09/10/2008.

About 40 girls took part, some of my friends from Man City
attended and it was good to see them (I had to stop playing
for City due to lack of transport). The City under 14 girls
team I played for was probably one of the best teams in
the country. We won the International Umbro Cup in 2006
and just narrowly lost 1-0 in the final of 2007 to an older
Liverpool side.

In the trials I played in midfield and on the right wing. I
managed to score six goals. I don't think I played my
best footie; but I think I played well enough to get picked.
We will just have to see, I will let you know how I got on
when the coach informs the college.

We are still on a break from Athletics I can't wait to get back
into training, I have bought a big carton of Gatorade and
knowing our coach I will definitely need it.

On Friday I trained with my other coach, my worst nightmare,
my dad, only dad's can treat you this way. So if you want to
improve your finishing speed then read on.

Extra training:
Warm up jog to the place of torture, around 2 miles in dad lingo.
Run 6oom to bottom of hill near to race pace, sprint up hill, easy
as that. (suffer heart failure and ring ambulance)
Hang on you didn't think that was it did you, no way.
Walk slowly back to dad, who is smiling holding rucksack in hands.
He says "While your tired, I'll help you put the rucksack on." Bless,
my dad's so caring.
Sprint up the hill around 75m with 5 kg in the sack.
Walk or crawl slowly back and repeat 3 more times.
Have a drinks break, drink 3 gallons of Gatorade and collapse.
Jog 2 miles back home as a warm down

Has anyone got the number for the prevention of
cruelty to athletes.

Football trials called off

I had been selected to go for North West Counties football trials, only due to the weather they were called off. I would have liked to try out for England but as I seem to spend most of my spare time training for the 800m I decided their wasn't enough time in a day.

One day I would love to play for England Ladies, I even heard they were entering the 2012 Olympics, so who knows if the athletics doesn't work out you might see me in an England kit.

We had a football match today, the pitch was more suited to the 200m butterfly stroke; but who cares at least we got a game. We played Wakefield Villa and we won 15-0, I scored 5.

Back in training

Ran for about 30 min's before college this morning. The weather was absolutely terrible, I stopped trying to dodge the puddles after a couple of minutes. I don't know why but the advert were the car keeps splashing pedestrians and then suddenly sinks slowly into a large puddle until the blaring sound system splurges it's last bass beat keeps going through my head.

Our footie match in Morcambe was cancelled due to the weather and I decided to come home early to prepare for training tonight, I have got a feeling it is going to be bad, but training is better than listening to dad moan about his cable bill and the price of gas. Come on Gordon Brown do something about the fuel prices and maybe my ears will get a rest.

I don't beleive it my lame brother as took the last of the Gatorade I bought, and Iam left with either water or Lidl juice.

Anyway I will let you know how training went later.
